Support Our Belize Project by Sponsoring or Naming a Manatee
Help Sea to Shore Alliance continue our long-term manatee project in Belize by sponsoring a manatee! Your tax-deductible contribution will go directly to our important field work in Belize.
Boat strikes are an emerging threat to the survival of manatees in Belize. We are expanding our work in Belize to help reduce the largest known cause of manatee deaths in the country. Your donation will help us take action and make a difference.
Sponsorships are wonderful, inspiring gifts that everyone can feel good about.
Manatee Sponsorship: $50
You will receive a signed sponsor certificate, a photo of the manatee you've sponsored, and your choice of a Sea to Shore t-shirt (adult sizes only) or a manatee plush.
Manatee Naming Opportunity: $1,000
What's in a name? Your tax-deductible donation will allow you to choose a name for a manatee in Belize. We'll send you a framed, personalized sponsor certificate and photo of "your" manatee, a Sea to Shore t-shirt, and a special, personalized gift. (Please note, names are subject to final approval by Sea to Shore Alliance.)
Woody

Woody was found in 1999 as an orphaned calf
in a canal in Buttonwood Bay, Belize City. He was the first manatee rehabilitated by Wildtracks, the manatee rehabilitation center in Belize. His rehabilitation was a success and he was released in 2001.
On his release in Southern Lagoon, he was tagged and tracked to help ensure his adaptation to the wild. Sea to Shore Alliance has caught Woody on six different occasions and conducted health assessments; the most recent was in June 2010. He looked great!

Morgan
Morgan was first identified in November 1997 when she was a 6-month-old calf. She was named after Sea to Shore Alliance Executive Director Buddy Powell's daughter, Morgan, who is the same age (both are now 14 years old).
Shown here with her namesake during a health assessment in March 2007, Sea to Shore Alliance has followed this calf to adulthood in Belize's Southern Lagoon. We have also tagged and tracked her mother, Maureen, named for Buddy Powell's wife.

Mr. Gentle
Named for a local business owner in Gales Point, Belize, Mr. Gentle was first identified in April 2003.
He was satellite tagged in Southern Lagoon in June 2011 and Sea to Shore Alliance is currently tracking his movements.

Cameron
Cameron was first identified by Sea to Shore Alliance in April 2007 near Coco Plum Caye off Placencia, Belize.
Cameron is shown taking a breath during a health assessment conducted by Sea to Shore Alliance in March 2008.
Cameron has been tagged twice and the information our researchers have gathered from him has shed new light on manatee movements and travel corridors in the Placencia area.
