Dr. James "Buddy" Powell to be on National Geographic Society's "Wild Chronicles" After four decades of protecting manatees worldwide, National Geographic grantee James “Buddy” Powell wants to know how many manatees remain to determine if wild populations are recovering. Searching Florida’s Everglades from the sky and the sea, Powell finds encouraging signs that Florida manatees have begun to make a comeback.
